Understanding the Human Being

Living Through the Philosophy of Human Factory Settings

In this programme, you will explore the fundamental perspectives introduced in Dr Sinan Canan’s İnsanın Fabrika AyarlarıHuman Factory Settings (İFA)—first published in 2019 and since then positively influencing the lives of many people.

Our biological heritage, shaped over millions of years, and humanity’s journey spanning hundreds of thousands of years affect each of us in ways we barely recognise. Although we are born with almost the same biological and psychological settings as our ancestors who lived hundreds of thousands of years ago, the world we are born into is radically different from theirs.

Understanding the difficulties experienced by human beings—designed for a world of scarcity but now living in a world of abundance—can offer entirely new perspectives in every area of life.

Under the title Living Through the Philosophy of Human Factory Settings, Sinan Canan examines our five fundamental settings, which lie at the root of many of the challenges in our lives, and explores how they affect us both individually and socially.

Each İFA session is unique and evolves through interaction with the participants. These sessions continue to transform the lives of those who attend.

This programme offers numerous starting points for looking at yourself from a completely new perspective and discovering things you may never have noticed before.

Programme Content

  • Introduction to İFA: Why should the settings of our ancestors matter to us?
  • İFA 1: Movement
  • İFA 2: Proper Nutrition
  • İFA 3: Relationships
  • İFA 4: Managing Stress
  • İFA 5: Pushing the Boundaries

Chaos Theory: Living with Uncertainty

Life is the name of the adventure made up of everything that happens to us while we are busy making plans.

In today’s digital and mechanical civilisation, we all want to plan our lives, predict the future and move towards tomorrow with greater confidence. Yet, as our past experiences repeatedly remind us, life rarely unfolds according to plan—almost never, in fact.

Especially in today’s technology-driven world, where no one can accurately predict what will happen even six months from now, we need a perspective that goes beyond simply trying to plan the future.

The skills required to live with chaos and uncertainty transform the way people see life. They remind us that the knowledge and wisdom needed to survive—and even accomplish extraordinary things—in an unpredictable and constantly changing world are rooted in our biological and evolutionary heritage.

The programme helps participants understand why old mechanical habits are no longer sufficient in a world of uncertainty and shows how humanity’s oldest natural abilities can be brought back into daily life.

Programme Content

  • Chaos and Order: Which is real and which is an illusion?
  • Chaos as nature’s operating system
  • Understanding how chaos and complexity govern life
  • Humanity’s struggle with chaos and uncertainty
  • Skills for living with uncertainty
  • The relationship between İFA and chaos
  • Lessons from nature

The Brave Human of the New World

We now live in an entirely new world—a digital, mechanical and human-made world whose rules we believe we have largely created ourselves.

We live in a network society shaped by digital devices, artificial intelligence technologies, intelligent algorithms and countless technologies that constantly demand our attention. Everyone has become connected through an enormous global network.

Yet when making decisions, taking action or planning our future, we often continue to rely on habits inherited from the old world.

In a world where values are rapidly changing, we must first understand what is genuinely “new” about this world. We must then remember certain fundamental and unchanging truths about ourselves.

Under the title The Brave Human of the New World, Dr Sinan Canan revisits everything we need to know when making important and critical decisions about our lives.

Programme Content

  • İFA and the New World
  • What is truly “new” about the new world?
  • Courage and the human being
  • What we need to recognise
  • The human journey that begins with an intention
  • Nine essential steps towards reaching where we want to go

New World Skills

What Do We Really Need to Know Amid So Much Information?

We live in an urban world that we have almost entirely created with our own hands—a world that increasingly separates us from our natural environment. The majority of the world’s population now lives in cities.

What will human beings do in this new world shaped by digital technologies, artificial intelligence systems and intelligent algorithms? What must we know and learn in order to remain human in the age of artificial intelligence?

New World Skills with Sinan Canan has been designed to answer these questions in the clearest possible way by combining current knowledge from biology, psychology and anthropology with reminders from humanity’s ancient wisdom.

This programme brings together the fundamental perspectives required by anyone who wants to develop new skills, viewpoints, methods and approaches for the new world.

Through an interactive experience, participants explore both new and timeless human skills and discover how these abilities can be developed.

Programme Content

  • İFA and the New World
  • What is truly “new” about the new world?
  • The effects of the new world on human beings
  • Social and individual transformation
  • Knowing yourself
  • Timeless human skills
  • Building the right connections between ancient wisdom and current knowledge

The Parenting Brain School

Raising Children with Minimum Harm

Being a parent is not easy—especially today.

Parenting has become an increasingly confusing subject in an age of overwhelming information, differing expert opinions and conflicting recommendations. For years, Dr Sinan Canan has continued to make parents’ lives easier through innovative interpretations based on some of the least discussed perspectives in this field.

One of the greatest challenges in raising children is that, while trying to do what is best for them, we may unknowingly cause harm.

Many ordinary behaviours that we adopt because our own parents did the same, because everyone else does them, because certain books recommend them or because they are taught in education can negatively affect both us and our children.

During The Parenting Brain School with Sinan Canan, participants encounter striking perspectives they are unlikely to have heard elsewhere. Together, we discover that remarkable change can often be achieved not by doing more, but by stopping some of the things we already do.

We will once again understand that raising children well is only possible when we also continue to educate and develop ourselves.

Dr Sinan Canan invites all parents and prospective parents to respond to this call.

Programme Content

  • How does a human being develop? Building a brain
  • Our personal damage report: Where were we affected?
  • The well-intentioned stones on the road to hell
  • The damage caused by education
  • The development of an incomplete sense of self
  • What do children and young people want?
  • The secret behind exhausted and dissatisfied adults
  • Transformative solutions

The Social Brain: The Neuroscience of Relationships

Human beings possess several extraordinary characteristics that enabled them to survive for hundreds of thousands of years despite extremely difficult natural conditions.

One of the most important of these characteristics is our ability to establish complex social structures and unite unique individuals around a shared purpose.

However, in today’s world, we are becoming increasingly unable to use many of these abilities. This inactive part of our biological heritage, shaped over millions of years, is creating growing difficulties for us.

Under the title The Social Brain, Dr Sinan Canan explores some of the most central aspects of human life from entirely new perspectives—from personal relationships and social interaction to loneliness in crowds and our need to spend time alone.

Other people are often the source of many of the problems in our lives, yet they are also the source of much of life’s beauty. Understanding how this works is an important starting point for increasing positive experiences and reducing negative ones.

Programme Content

  • İFA and the social settings of human beings
  • The social brain
  • Why are we unique?
  • How and why do we come together?
  • Beliefs, narratives and belonging
  • The different levels of human sociality
  • Why does loneliness affect us negatively?
  • Social skills weakened by education and culture
  • Building and sustaining relationships in a networked world
  • What does it mean to be a cultural being?

The Leader’s Brain

The Neuro-Psycho-Biology of Leadership

The term that perhaps best describes today’s new social structure is the network society.

We are attempting to understand—and, in many cases, create from scratch—the rules of a social environment formed through the internet and social networks, where billions of people are now connected.

At the same time, our real lives remain grounded in relationships with a relatively small number of people, just as they were for our ancestors over thousands of years.

Within this complex social structure, all of us are occasionally required to assume the mysterious responsibility known as leadership.

Whether we are managers leading teams, groups or companies, entrepreneurs working on projects with temporary teams or university students organising activities with friends, we all encounter leadership responsibilities that we may not always recognise.

In The Leader’s Brain, Dr Sinan Canan examines what leadership truly means. Participants rediscover the misconceptions inherited from our biological and cultural history and explore the true nature of leadership through the perspectives of biology and neuroscience.

By examining human-centred and İFA-oriented leadership approaches, participants gain a completely new perspective on the concept of leadership.

  • Human beings and social competencies
  • İFA theory and its relationship with leadership
  • What do human beings want? What every leader needs to know
  • The characteristics and qualities of a leader
  • The feeling of trust and its origins
  • The neurochemistry of leadership
  • The journey of authentic leadership, from courage to compassion

The Spiritual Settings of the Human Being

“Human beings can die not only from hunger, but also from meaninglessness.”

Why is meaning so important to us? Does life have a meaning? If it does, does anyone truly know what it is? Why do we have such a strong need for meaning, and why is it so central to human existence?

Perhaps one of the greatest challenges faced by modern human beings is the confusion surrounding the meaning of the process we call life.

When we consider both our knowledge and individual experiences, meaning and the world of meaning appear to be among the most decisive factors in human life.

The concept of spirituality, used here in the sense of “that which relates to meaning”, lies at the centre of this confusion. Although religion and traditional narratives may be the first things that come to mind when we hear the word spirituality, the human need for meaning arises from a much more fundamental psychological foundation that extends beyond all such narratives.

During The Spiritual Settings of the Human Being, Dr Sinan Canan explores the origins of our spiritual settings and offers participants the opportunity to view themselves and their lives from an entirely new perspective.

The programme also examines how ideas, ideologies and centres of power may exploit our spiritual needs—needs that can sometimes provide great strength but can also leave us feeling isolated.

Developing the ability to make our own decisions about spirituality, one of the most important areas of personal life, is an essential starting point for individual freedom.

Science and humanity’s ancient experience have far more to tell us about this subject than we may realise.

Programme Content

  • İFA and İMA: Why can we not live without spirituality?
  • İMA 1: The search for meaning
  • İMA 2: The search for certainty
  • İMA 3: The search for security
  • İMA 4: The search for completion
  • İMA 5: The search for immortality
  • The “meaning” of it all

The Adventures of an Ancient Primate in the Modern World

An Interactive Scientific “Inform-ance”

Science is wonderful—always!

Dr Sinan Canan presents a scientifically grounded improvisational performance unlike anything you may have experienced before. This distinctive format may also be described as an interactive “inform-ance”, combining information and performance.

During this unique event, Sinan Canan invites participants to propose ten different topics and spontaneously connects them all within a single narrative.

As Türkiye’s first science-based stand-up performance, it is almost impossible to predict what will happen. However, one rule never changes: everyone has fun, experiences surprise and wonder, and looks at the world differently the following day.

You will remember this interactive, unpredictable and completely unique performance for a long time.

Note: This format is suitable for year-end meetings and large events open to a general audience. Special stage preparation is required.

I Have Something on My Mind

An Interactive Question-and-Answer and Discussion Forum

Dr Sinan Canan has researched the human experience for at least twenty years and has spent more than a decade sharing what he has learned across numerous platforms.

In this open question-and-answer forum, he responds directly to participants’ questions.

Shaped entirely by the participants’ own concerns and curiosities, I Have Something on My Mind offers a unique and unrepeatable experience. It takes the dialogue and exchange of knowledge that modern people need more than ever to an entirely new level.

Fixed microphones are placed among the audience, allowing everyone to ask questions on any topic. The event creates an entertaining and memorable experience filled with unexpected surprises, tension, laughter and thought-provoking discoveries.

Everyone who has something on their mind is invited.

Note: A specially arranged venue and stage setup are required.

Something Happened to Me

A Neurochemical Rock Concert

Sinan Canan and his experienced rock orchestra present a highly distinctive concert experience.

Alongside Sinan Canan’s original compositions, the programme includes entertaining interpretations of selected works from the history of Turkish rock music—performed in ways audiences have never heard before.

This high-adrenaline, dopamine-filled concert also explores the surprising effects that music has on us and on the chemistry of our brains.

We will talk, learn and rock together.

It is difficult to imagine a better setting than the Something Happened to Me concert for singing powerful songs together at full volume.

Note: A professional sound system and special stage preparation are required.

The Fundamental Rules of the Brain

Everything we do—or fail to do—in daily life is ultimately connected to the way our brain functions.

To use our brain effectively and appropriately, we need to understand its fundamental rules and settings.

Drawing on more than twenty years of neuroscience research and education, Dr Sinan Canan invites participants to rediscover the brain from a perspective they may never have encountered before.

When you become familiar with the legacy of millions of years of biological development, your cultural codes and the simple yet powerful settings that shape your life without your awareness, you will begin to see everything differently.
