For a decade, Umut Onan sat at the crossroads of design and technology — inside Accenture and its design and innovation arm, Fjord — helping global brands turn bold ideas into products people actually use. That decade shaped how he thinks, and what he does next: he doesn’t just talk about innovation, he builds it.
Today, as founder of Wunder Innovation Studio (Munich and Istanbul), Umut leads a service design and innovation agency that has designed digital experiences, mobile applications and customer-experience strategies for some of Europe’s and Türkiye’s largest brands — Vodafone, Allianz, Mastercard, Türkiye İş Bankası, Yapı Kredi, Akbank, Anadolu Sigorta, EY, Boyner and Unilever.
Beyond client work, he leads a portfolio of his own products: Magnus, a longevity-intelligence platform that turns biomarkers, wearable data and lab results into legible health insights; Elefant, an AI companion that lets people manage crypto assets through natural-language agents; Globby, a game that teaches the world’s countries and cultures; and Quakeguard, an earthquake early-warning and preparedness app. Each has given him first-hand experience of taking products from idea to app store — regulatory, technical and human obstacles included.
His career spans software engineering, management consulting, people leadership and years of running design organisations — a range that lets him connect the dots between emerging technology, business models and the people expected to adopt them. As a personal advisor to CEOs, CIOs, CTOs and CMOs, he helps leadership teams read what is actually happening in their industry and decide how to respond.
What sets Umut apart in the room isn’t the résumé — it’s the delivery. He is a natural storyteller who turns dense topics like AI, enterprise innovation and venture building into vivid, real-world narratives, backed by projects he has actually shipped, not slideware. He has been on stage for over a decade — from Accenture’s Tech Talks series and Turkish Innovation Week to the Banking as a Service Summit and the Education Technologies Summit — and has led innovation workshops inside İş Bankası, Allianz, Vodafone, Akbank, Yapı Kredi, EY and Unilever. He also publishes Innovation Insights, a newsletter on the developments that matter for leaders thinking ahead. Expect sharp insight, sharp humour and zero fluff.
