Clive Branson built his career by studying the human condition. After serving three years in the Royal Air Force, Clive spent seventeen years with the Ministry of Defence working in employee relations. Delivering detailed information and holding Q&A sessions for large groups of people, through to very personal individual cases, Clive developed the art of effective communication.
In 2017, when Clive had left the MoD and began his own Health and Safety consultancy, an extremely powerful perfect storm swept in and shook the foundations of not only Clive’s life, but also the lives of his loved ones. Over a three year period, Clive lost his father to Parkinsons disease and Dementia. He was diagnosed with slow progression Motor Neurone Disease. Following acute anxiety and a severe mental breakdown Clive was admitted to a Psychiatric Hospital for ten weeks. Finally making it home, and realising that he had completely lost his identity, Clive was diagnosed with Stage Two Prostate Cancer. Then in yet another cruel twist of fate, Clive’s mother caught Covid in hospital and lost her battle for survival.
However, thanks to the unconditional love and support from his incredibly close family unit, Clive rediscovered hope, regained perspective, and decided that the old saying “You only live once” is actually incorrect. He believes that “You get to live each and every day!” With authenticity, brutal honesty and a genuine injection of humour, Clive uses his incredible story so far as a vehicle to reach others. Sharing his story and so many of the associated experiences and learnings with large corporate organisations through to the hundreds of inmates he talks to in prisons all over the country, Clive actively demonstrates that we have hidden reserves of fortitude and resilience that we didn’t know we had. Encouraging people to recognise the importance of self compassion, to build confidence, empathy and the power of self belief.
Sharing both things that actually helped, and those that genuinely did not, to not simply adopt a positive mindset, but how to maintain it. Clive inspires people because he has the natural ability to connect with his audience. He considers this to be a privilege, and his passion is contagious.
